Miranda and Patrick's wedding
Documentary wedding photography
of Miranda and Patrick at Pencoed House, August 4th 2015
It didn't take long to get to the bridal preps location for Miranda, as it was just minutes from my home, which certainly was a refreshing change.
Upon entering their home I could tell this was a tight-knit group of family and friends, so I proceeded to engage my tight-knit family and friends mode, and expect lots of hugging, smiling, and laughing.
My particular style of photography is an inconspicuous one, where I try not to get the subjects' attention, therefore catching them in a natural, relaxed state, doing whatever they were doing before I raised the camera. In a lot of cases I use a method of shooting from the hip, where I don't even raise the camera, and just aim the camera from my side, which always gives an interesting perspective and expression.
The ceremony took place in St Augustine's Parish Church, a 12th century building with lots of thick history and character. It really was such a privilage to be able to document there. Here I used my usual technique of capturing the bride entering the church, moving to the front to capture the groom's reaction when seeing his bride for the first time, then stepping to the side out of view (especially as I have a shiny head) to capture more candid moments from a distance.
