Your wedding is a special day. Everything needs to be right! The dress, the food, the vows, the bridesmaid’s outfits, and even the weather. Of course some things are out of our hands. But for the things that are not we put our all into making it just right!

I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph many places around Wales and beyond. I’ve visited some great venues along the way and I intend to share my discoveries to help future brides and grooms make the perfect decision on their wedding location. I’d like to show you a couple of places I’ve photographed and highly rate in Swansea. Read on and see if these venues are for you…

Thinking to get married in Swansea?
If so you’re in for a treat. I’ll start with the first place that comes to mind…. The Gower. Part of the county of Swansea, in 1956 the Gower became the very first area of the UK to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. As awe inspiring as this sounds I’m sure it will live up to expectations you now have on your first visit.

A selection of just some Locations I Cover in Swansea.

The Oxwich Bay Hotel
The Oxwich bay is in the Gower peninsular. I was privileged to be called out as the wedding photographer for a lovely couple here. The beautiful building is almost literally on the beach which can be seen from all parts of the venue offering the perfect scenic experience for any wedding. The hotel has taken full advantage of their location and put all their focus into being one of the top notch wedding venues of Swansea. They’ve pulled out all the stops, offering a luxury marquee, ceremony room and lounge. They offer a wedding breakfast menu which I can say from personal experience is ‘amazing’ (Yea I love my job!). They even go as far as offering their own unique wedding ideas like vintage ice cream carts in the summer to a wedding hot chocolate bar in the winter, which they’ll help to organise for you. Their prices are clearly shown on the site which makes planning a breeze.

To top it all off, it’s a hotel… So organising accommodation for the family shouldn’t be a problem!
If this is the kind of venue you’re looking for then check out their site and prices ‘here’ and hopefully all that’s left to do is complete the booking form.

Manor Park Country House
In the town of Clydach, in Swansea with only 12,000 or so people lies a little gem (or not so little). I had my second visit as a wedding photographer here last March and I have to say I was just as impressed as I was in my first visit. They can provide for both small and large weddings. With wonderfully spacious grounds, this is great if you’re thinking to accommodate children in your wedding day. If it’s a more intimate wedding you seek then the Alisha suite would be my recommendation to you. It can accommodate a maximum of 85 guest for the civil ceremony and up to 170 when the party kicks in. Having recently undergone a massive refurbishment it now is everything you could hope for in those more intimate occasions.

If you’re planning a wedding on a larger scale then the Ashleigh suite should do the trick. Capable of accommodating over 400 guests. It has a large bar and dance floor, plenty of stage area as well. The room can be separated by partitions for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, and then opened up ready for the first dance and party.

Not only are their suite’s up to scratch but the extended services they offer leave no need for a wedding planner. They even claim to be the first venue in Wales to offer their own full room dressing packages. On first view their website seems a bit outdated, but having been in the venue itself and been the proud photographer to two very happy weddings there, and based on my own experience, I have to give them full marks. ‘Visit site

Morgans Hotel
Situated in the heart of Swansea city, Morgans Hotel is a wonderful, unique and original building, with both modern and antique décor. Awarded 5 stars by the Welsh tourist board, this splendid, highly rated wedding venue is just a short drive from the Mumbles and Gower beaches, just in case you decide to take a short trip for an early evening sunset photo shoot between the ceremony and wedding reception times.

Morgans has the capacity to cater for the more intimate of wedding vow renewals or a full on grand design bespoke wedding of hundreds. As well as full day wedding packages, they also offer evening only receptions, with A La carte menu’s at different price options, that is if you decide to have your ceremony at a different location.

Their exclusive wedding package also includes an experienced wedding co-ordinator ready and waiting to organize things for you during the day, and relieve some of that unwanted pressure which you will no doubt be feeling, even though it may well be the best day of your lives, and I know all too well being a documentary wedding photographer, having the pleasure of observing the bride and groom, moments can get heated at times, and there are certainly ups and downs. So it is always a good idea to take advantage of a good wedding co-ordinator.

If its class and style you’re looking for with a top rated service then Morgans Hotel is the place for you. ‘Visit site

Why should my opinion count?
There are countless excellent wedding venues throughout the UK. No one will have a chance to visit them all. But as wedding photography is my job, I have seen (and will see) a lot of weddings in a lot of places. I’ve gained an insightful perspective into the world of weddings and would like to write about it all…. One step at a time of course.
